Bugey lives a little in the shadow of Savoie and Jura, and its vineyards lack recognition. This does not prevent a few rare winegrowers from working - modestly but with conviction - to bring it into the light.
Bugey lives a little in the shadow of Savoie and Jura, and its vineyards lack recognition. This does not prevent a few rare winegrowers from working - modestly but with conviction - to bring it into the light, such as François Grinand. Since 1993, he has devoted himself to the small family vineyard with the desire to manage the vines and the wines in the most natural way. A few complicated vintages (weather...) forced him to take a break in 2007, only to start again in 2009 with the help of two passionate amateurs. On its 2.5 ha of vines clinging to the limestone scree slopes of the village of Villebois, on the right bank of the Rhône (within the confidential Montagnieu communal appellation area), the Domaine du Perron works with Gamay, Pinot Noir, Altesse, Chardonnay and Mondeuse. Always the same high standards, without complacency or artifice, for wines that give priority to the terroir.
