Aurora
LE MARCHE
Still poorly known in France, the Marche region, on the east coast of Italy between the Apennines and the Adriatic, has several appellations that deserve great attention, especially in its southern part around Ascoli Piceno and Offida. The slopes of the hills are favorable to viticulture, and particularly to native grape varieties such as pecorino and passerina for whites, often associated with trebbiano (= ugni blanc), or montepulciano for reds, often accompanied by sangiovese. And the natural environment is welcoming to innovative projects like that of the Aurora team, initiated a good forty years ago.
The rich biodiversity of the Marche hills, around Offida, proved ideal for the initiators of the Azienda agribiologica Aurora project at the end of the 1970s: a choice of living and working in contact with the land and of nature, with the most respectful practices possible. The creators of Aurora, and the young generation that follows them, have adopted organic and biodynamic cultivation throughout the estate, today 10 ha of vines, 2 ha of olive trees, 1 ha of fruit trees, between others. With the classic Marche grape varieties – pecorino, passerina, trebbiano, montepulciano, sangiovese – Aurora offers wines that reflect its “philosophy”: healthy, frank, sincere and authentic.
