Fontedicto - Bernard Bellahsen
LANGUEDOC
Bernard Bellahsen created his estate in the heart of the Coteaux du Languedoc, in Caux: a real farm that fully practices biodynamics and offers wines that embody the idea of respect for the soil and the plant, authenticity and "naturalness", to the delight of wine drinkers.
A true icon of natural wine, Bernard Bellahsen created his estate in the heart of the Coteaux du Languedoc, in Caux, north of Pézenas (Hérault), at a lieu-dit called Fontarèche: a real farm that fully practices biodynamics (certification in 1993) with not only vines (3 ha), of course, but also horses for plowing – Bernard Bellahsen is a master of animal traction – and meadows for hay, and fields of wheat to produce flour and bread. The limestone and basalt soils of the terraces are planted with Grenache, Carignan and Syrah, with a few complementary grape varieties. At the Fontedicto estate, cultivation and vinification are done at a natural pace, without forcing nature by inputs or interventions that would disturb it, aging is carried out in barrels then in vats until the wine has found its own stable balance. Wines that embody the idea of respect for the soil and the plant, authenticity and "naturalness", for the pleasure of the consumer.
