François Grinand - Domaine du Perron
SAVOIE

Bugey lives somewhat in the shadow of Savoie and Jura, and its vineyard lacks recognition. This does not prevent a few rare winegrowers from working – modestly but with conviction – to highlight it, such as François Grinand.
From 1993, he devoted himself to the small family vineyard with the desire to farm his vines and craft wines in the most natural way. A few complicated vintages forced Grinand to take a break in 2007, only to start again in 2009 with the help of two passionate wine lovers. On its 2.5 ha of vines clinging to the limestone scree slopes of the village of Villebois, on the right bank of the Rhône (within the confidential area of the Montagnieu communal appellation), Domaine du Perron produces Gamay, Pinot Noir, Altesse, Chardonnay and Mondeuse. Always the same requirement, without complacency or artifice, for wines that give priority to the terroir.
