Arbois et Pupillin, terroirs phares du Jura
Arbois, one of the most emblematic appellations in the Jura, is characterised by its soils, most of which are made up of different types of marl typical of the Trias and Lias, two geological eras of the secondary era. The different vineyards in the appellation boast soils that are particularly well-suited to Chardonnay and Savagnin for whites and Pinot Noir, Poulsard and Trousseau for red wines.
The uniqueness of Pupillin within Arbois, with its Triassic marls exceptionally favourable to Poulsard (or Ploussard), has earned the village the right to add its name to the Arbois appellation and to be considered the ‘capital of Ploussard’.
